Katrina Van Tassel is the eldest daughter of Baltus Van Tassel and heiress to the Van Tassel fortune. Only two generations removed from the Netherlands, her beauty and petite stature are a nod to her dutch heritage. Katrina’s intelligence and confidence have been nurtured by loving parents who valued raising a daughter with these qualities.

Although she lost her mother at an early age, Katrina has always been overtly feminine, but also strong willed and determined. She and her younger sister Emeline have always been close and family means the world to them. She spends a great deal of time with her child hood friend Abraham Van Brunt (Brom Bones), with whom she shares a love of adventure. They often spend hours riding throughout the hollow and enjoying each others company.
